General Motors has a diet? It seems like everyone has a diet these days, but this one is definitely surprising to many people. The program was actually developed for employees of the corporation and their families and dubbed the General Motors Diet accordingly. It is intended for the exclusive use of these people, but the information has been leaked and everyday people are seeking out this diet plan for their weight loss solution.

The diet was tested at Johns Hopkins Research Center and was approved for use in 1985 by the Board of Directors at General Motors. The program states that it is designed to provide weight loss of 10-17 pounds per week, and will serve to improve emotions because of the cleansing properties.

What is the General Motors Diet? It’s a seven day plan that consists of eating foods that burn more calories when consumed than they give the body. Anyone can use this plan to flush their body of toxins and unhealthy fat, and seven days gives anyone at least a 10 pound weight loss, according to the plan. You cannot drink alcohol on this diet, and 10 glasses of water must be consumed each day.

The first day starts with all the fruits that you can eat, except for bananas. Melons are suggested but not required, as they are good cleansing fruits. The second day is a vegetable day. With this diet, it doesn’t matter if they are raw or cooked, or which ones you eat. Anything is game with this plan. Plus, you’ll enjoy a large baked potato for breakfast, which can be topped with a small pat of butter.

The third day of the General Motors Diet is a mixture of whatever fruits and veggies you want. Eat until your heart’s content, and stay away from bananas and potatoes. Day four allows you to eat bananas, up to eight in total. Then you are instructed to drink three glasses of milk, combined with a special soup that has limited quantities. Day five allows you to feast on two 10 oz. portions of lean beef and six whole tomatoes. Drink an extra quart of water on day five to cleanse the body from the food that you’re eating. Day six is beef and vegetables until you are satisfied, and day seven is brown rice, fruit juices, and vegetables unlimited.

By the end of the General Motors Diet, you are suggested to be 10-17 pounds lighter than you were when you started. People who want further weight loss results can continue the diet for another week or as long as they like.
