Hungry Girl

Hungry GirlHungry Girl is a website started by a woman named Lisa, who immediately lets people know that she isn’t a nutritionist or diet guru, just a girl who is hungry. She tries all of the fad diets and foods out there, and orders everything on the side. She claims to be obsessed with food and has now created a website to allow her to enjoy her passion and share it with others.

The site’s creator has struggled with weight her entire life, due likely to her love affair with food. However, three years ago, she found a solution that seemed to be much more effective than anything else that she had ever tried. She got rid of carbs and starches that were known to be bad, started drinking 14 glasses of water a day, and dropped 30 pounds.

Since that time, Hungry Girl has started following the Weight Watchers point system and avoiding useless carbs as much as she can. However, she admits to having her off days, and understands that it definitely is a worthwhile effort and that mistakes and slip ups happen. This is a nice change because most people think that once they’ve fallen off track, they can’t get back on. Lisa lets you know that it’s okay to have an off day, as long as you don’t have an off day every day.

Lisa also points out that this isn’t a temporary change, but a lifestyle change that you need to commit to fully in order to succeed. However, she will be the first to tell you that it’s not all work and no play, and that there is plenty of fun to be had in a lifestyle where you’re eating and living healthy.

Hungry Girl has plenty of sections to check out on the website, including news, eating right tips named ‘Chew the Right Thing’, a FAQ section, weekly weigh ins, which are opinion columns, and ‘Girls Bite Out’, a section on dining out and enjoying life without worrying about that nasty four letter word (diet). You can even sign up for the daily email and get tips and tricks through your email every day. There is also a store on the website, selling clothes and totes with the hungry girl logo for you to enjoy.

All in all, this website seems to be a sensible, fun-loving approach to food and nutrition. If you take the time to learn about all of the different diet trends on your own, it would take forever. This site puts them together for you and makes it easier for everyone to get their life on track.
