Idiot Proof Diet

The Idiot Proof Diet was written by two women who have had their own personal struggles with weight loss and who wanted to share what they learned with the world. This diet is often confused with the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet, but they are different methods. They explain in the book how they lost 140 pounds, or ‘ten stone’, part of their book’s title, in just one year with the help of a low-carb diet similar to Atkins. They wanted a plan that was serious, yet flexible, and didn’t leave them feeling hungry or keep them going out of their way to get the things that they needed on this diet.

The Idiot Proof Diet suggests that people write down their reasons for weight loss and their goals to serve as motivation along the way. Then, there are three phrases of the diet that need to be explored. The first is a two-week introduction phase which is low-carb and mirrors the Atkins diet first phase. It involves strict limitation of carbs and caffeine, which for some people might prove to be quite the challenge in today’s fast-paced and caffeine infused world. Once the first phase has been completed, carbs are gradually reintroduced, allowing people to learn how to live with a good diet, not just lose the carbs to lose the weight.

The phases of the Idiot Proof Diet become much more akin to the South Beach Diet at this point, because of their incremental increases. Phase two allows dieters to have 40-100 grams of carbs a day, while phase 3 allows them to continue to add them to the menu each week, suggesting that as long as weight gain isn’t experienced, adding is fine.

If weight is gained, people are told to back down again on the carbs, because they won’t lose the weight if they’re eating too many. Refined carbs are a no-no along the way, including sugars like bread, pasta, rice, potato, and desserts, just as in the famous Atkins Diet.

Instead, followers of the Idiot Proof Diet are suggested to eat meat, poultry, eggs, cheese, butter, green vegetables, nuts, herbal teas, and similar foods. The book contains some sample diets, and can be very helpful to guide people along the way. There is a recommended exercise program of at least 20 minutes of exercise per day, and walking is one of the things that people can do. The book itself retails for about $25, while they also have published a cookbook that you can get for around $30 if you’re not able to come up with your own meal ideas.
