Cabbage Soup Diet
If you’re a fan of cabbage soup, this diet is for you. If you aren’t, you can probably skip this one. The Cabbage Soup Diet is fairly simple. It consists of eating nothing but cabbage soup and a few other low-cal foods for a week nonstop, leading to quick weight loss in the end. Since options are limited and calories are scarce, boredom and hunger are inevitable on this diet, though.
This diet isn’t an individualized plan of any kind. There aren’t recommendations about exercise, behavioral tips or advice on bad habit changes. There is, however, a list of what you can and can’t eat every single day, for every single meal. Still interested?
The Cabbage Soup Diet requires you to eat at home because you’re not going to find the foods involved on any restaurant menus. You are promised a 10 pound weight loss in just a week, and the poor nutrition of the plan restricts dieters to one-week at a time. However, if they want to lose more, they are welcome to come back after some time has passed and do the diet again.
What can you eat on the diet? Well, you can eat as much as you want, as long as you have two bowls of fat-free cabbage soup daily and stick to the tiny list of allowed foods, including skim milk, meat, fruits and vegetables. Water is the drink of choice with this plan, and alcohol avoidance is critical.
The highly sulfurous cabbage and other vegetables on this diet are sure to have some less than pleasant gastrointestinal results for dieters, which is a big warning to watch out for. The Cabbage Soup Diet is considered a modified fast, which means that few calories are involved and you need to be careful that you do not become malnourished. There isn’t anything that makes it amazing or special, except the fact that the calorie counts are way lower than any nutritionist would recommend to most people trying to eat a healthy diet. Most of the weight lost does come from fluids, though, which puts many dieters in a tricky place because when they stop the diet it will come back.
There is a great debate about the effectiveness of the Cabbage Soup Diet. Some think that it’s a great idea, while others will caution against less than 1,200 calories without doctor supervision. This diet is going to allow people to regain weight, perpetuating failure for many, and resulting in a loss of ambition to maintain a healthy diet and strive for weight loss.
