Eat This Not That Diet Review
David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding created a diet book known as the Eat This Not That Diet. The diet really isn’t much of an actual diet, but more of an expose on calorie counting, which is perfect for counters who want to know all the info on how many calories they’re actually consuming. The book is offered in a portable size making it easy to take to the store or the restaurant with you, and it is partially a nutritional guide and partially an expose on the truth about calories.
There are many other things listed in the guide as well, including fat, sugar, carbs, and sodium counts to keep you in line with all of your food choices. The goal is to make you choose better food, and so far it seems to be doing the job.
The Eat This Not That Diet does exactly as its name suggests. It teaches you which foods are best to eat, how much you should be eating, and which foods are the best solutions when you cannot choose between two things. Say you aren’t sure whether you want spaghetti or tacos for dinner (both made with lean meat, of course). You can look up the ingredients in the book and see which one rates better as a meal, and then decide what you want based on that. It’s fairly simple to navigate the book, and you can find a great variety of foods in the book ready for inspection.
The Eat This Not That Diet book even lists restaurant food, such as Aussie cheese fries from Outback (2,900 calories, by the way—yikes!) and the Lonestar Steakhouse 20-ounce T-bone, which weighs in with more than 1,500 calories to its name. As for fast food restaurants, they’re graded on a scale based on the nutritional value of their menu. Chick-fil-A gets an A+ for having nothing over 500 calories while Pizza Hut nearly fails with a 650 calorie-per-slice pan pizza.
The menu decoder is helpful, and it can make your learning about calories and nutrition that much more effective. You won’t give up because you are discouraged and can’t understand. You will easily be able to count calories and make better food choices by seeing the numbers staring right back at you. Eat This Not That Diet does make a few unsubstantiated claims, such as the ability to target belly fat, build muscle, and help shed pounds. However, it’s still an effective diet plan even if it can’t do all of that stuff. Added to the right exercise routine, it could be a perfect solution for some.
