The Lemonade Diet Part 2

Yesterday we covered the basics of the Lemonade Diet which is an offshoot of the Master Cleanse diet.

Too many people these days are hung up on quick and easy weight loss plans that aren’t really all that effective or safe. When you don’t eat any food for 10 days, you could drink any low calorie drink and expect to lose weight, so it’s no surprise that this diet works. Just keep in mind that if you don’t change your eating habits the toxins will come back, as will the weight, and the whole process will be pointless.

The Lemonade Diet is very simple. All you drink is 6 or more servings of the lemonade daily, unless you want to drink a saltwater flush which is two teaspoons of salt in a quart of water, in the morning, or you can drink a laxative herbal tea at night. People can follow this plan for 4-14 days, at which point they are told to start with soups and fruits and vegetables to get their bodies used to eating again. Here’s another surprise (not): exercise is not suggested. How could you exercise when you’re drinking juice for a week or more and starving your body of energy and fuel? That is a task that is near impossible.

Like most cleansing programs that have been developed, this is not effective for long term weight loss. If you have a wedding dress to fit into, a need to cleanse the body, or just want to clear out and start over, it can be something to consider. Just do so carefully and ONLY with a doctor’s or health care practitioner’s supervision.
