Dr Perricone Diet

The Dr Perricone Diet is actually an ‘anti-wrinkle’ diet, not centered around weight loss at all. It was written and developed by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, who found out that certain foods cause water retention and inflammation that can lead to unsightly wrinkles and premature aging, along with obesity and other health complications. The program is based on a 28 day diet that reduces refined sugars, high-glycemic (sugar) carbs, and saturated fats, allowing you to be healthier, younger-looking, and more vibrant because your body is healthy.

The trial run of the program consists of a 3-day meal plan, which many people find results with. Most feel more energized and others comment on the loss of puffiness or bloodshot eyes, and attribute it all to the Perricone Diet that they are on. The diet is very strict for the first three days, giving you full details about what you should eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, and you should eat nothing else. This program was specifically created for women who have bad nutrition, but can be enjoyed by anyone. By bringing lean protein into the diet, people will see increased metabolism, cell rejuvenation, and more.

There are a few critics of the Perricone Diet, mainly because it’s hard to find some of the food and it can be rather expensive. Wild salmon, most commonly, is the food that people have a little trouble getting their hands on. It’s expensive, and the farmed salmon is usually filled with chemicals and antibiotics that are not something you want to eat on a regular basis. The book itself isn’t designed as a weight loss plan, but many people who have followed the diet have seen weight loss in addition to their improved appearance and lack of aging.

The Perricone Diet also suggests a variety of topical treatments, which is really no surprise. They are expensive treatments that Dr. Perricone provides you with, and is simply another part of the marketing game. However, it’s not all about pushing product with this diet. The actual purpose is to get people looking and feeling younger, and to do it with sound diet advice and nutrition information that can give people that younger, more vibrant feeling back in their lives.

Every diet program is different, and while most focus on weight loss, this is one that you can count on to get the anti-aging qualities that your body needs, while losing weight is only a side effect of the program. In this day and age, too many people seek out weight loss diets, so it’s nice to see a diet that simply helps rejuvenate people and give them a healthier life.
