Low Carb Meals Part 2

Proponents of low carb meals such as the Adkins diet believe that if the blood sugar and insulin levels cause weight gain, then decreasing the carbs will allow for weight loss. The body can break down the fat stores for the energy it needs. Generally speaking, low carb diet plans focus on meat, poultry and fish with dairy products and eggs as secondary sources of nutrition. There are many reasons that people choose low carb diets. The first is to lose weight.

These kind of diets have been proven to promote significant fat loss in a relatively short period of time, but unfortunately, they are not really all that healthy. Another reason people choose to focus on low carb meals is that they enjoy the type of food and portion sizes that accompany most plans. Usually these plans involve eating a lot of meat, sometimes even a lot of red meat and we pretty much know that isn’t the best thing to be doing to your body.

Cutting out a major type of nutrient, such as carbs, for an extended period of time is not healthy. However, if you are looking for a way to jump-start your weight loss and achieve your goals, this type of program may work for you but, please remember that there is a lot more to your health than just losing weight. Most people slowly wean themselves away from these plans and begin incorporating healthy grains, fruits and vegetables for long-term maintenance. And that is a much better long term diet solution.
