If you enjoy a cup of java in the morning but are using a powdered creamer substitute in your coffee such as Coffee Mate you are doing nothing more than adding a chemistry set to your drink. Somehow people have been lead to believe that these powdered creamer substitutes are healthier for you that real cream. When you look at the list of ingredients in these highly processed concoctions, you will see that is probably the furthest thing from the truth.

Let’s look at the ingredients for the original Coffee Mate powdered creamer:

CORN SYRUP SOLIDS, VEGETABLE OIL (PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED COCONUT OR PALM KERNEL, HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN), SODIUM CASEINATE (A MILK DERIVATIVE)**, AND LESS THAN 2% OF DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE (MODERATES COFFEE ACIDITY), MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES (PREVENTS OIL SEPARATION), SODIUM ALUMINOSILICATE, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, ANNATTO COLOR

What you do see is a various names of chemicals and processed oils, what you don’t see is anything that can actually be classified as a food item. It contains artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors and colorings, artificial preservatives, anti-caking agents, processed oils and more. What you also don’t see in these powdered creamers is actual cream. This used to not be the case when Coffee Mate and other powdered creamers came on to the market they really did include dehydrated sugar and real dehydrated cream, but for the sake of saving money, over the years powdered creamers started adding cheaper chemical substitutes. In other words, you pay the same price or even higher and the company produces the product for cheaper as time goes on.

The only thing that even approaches food likeness is sodium caseinate which is derived from milk using a using a chemical extrusion process hat so alters the food, that the FDA no longer considers it a dairy product.

And then there is the anti caking agent sodium aluminosilicate. It is beyond belief that big food companies are still using these substances that contain toxic aluminum. Aluminum has been liked to all kinds of disease including Alzheimer’s disease, organ and tissue damage, gastrointestinal disorders and more. And you’re putting that in your coffee?

If you must drink coffee in the morning and don’t want to use real cream, there are substitutes that are at least food items. You can use liquid coconut creamers like those from the company So Delicious. We have enjoyed their ice cream, that’s not really ice cream at all, it is frozen coconut milk, but you will never know the difference.
