Along with taking these hormone injections, dieters are urged to go on a 500 calorie a day diet which is just plain dangerous and frankly, stupid. Your body was not designed to survive on 500 calories of food a day. This tiny amount of caloric intake is not even enough food energy to allow you body to function normally. Anyone can lose weight on a 500 calorie a day diet without the use of some injection. Honestly, consuming 500 calories a day is not dieting, it is starvation.</p>
<p>Dr Oz recently took a look at this diet and basically said that there is no validity to the claims that the HCG hormone is effective in helping you lose weight. He said that you can also find HCG drops on the Internet, but that they are actually illegal. You also have to watch out for scam artists selling HCG drops that don&#8217;t really have any of the hormone in them.</p>
<p>It is also interesting to not that HCG is a banned substance in major league baseball because the hormone supposedly helps steroid users lessen the side effects of coming off of steroid use. The body can break down the fat stores for the energy it needs. Generally speaking, low carb diet plans focus on meat, poultry and fish with dairy products and eggs as secondary sources of nutrition. There are many reasons that people choose low carb diets. The first is to lose weight.</p>
<p>These kind of diets have been proven to promote significant fat loss in a relatively short period of time, but unfortunately, they are not really all that healthy. Another reason people choose to focus on low carb meals is that they enjoy the type of food and portion sizes that accompany most plans. Usually these plans involve eating a lot of meat, sometimes even a lot of red meat and we pretty much know that isn&#8217;t the best thing to be doing to your body.</p>

However, if you are looking for a way to jump-start your weight loss and achieve your goals, this type of program may work for you but, please remember that there is a lot more to your health than just losing weight. Most people slowly wean themselves away from these plans and begin incorporating healthy grains, fruits and vegetables for long-term maintenance. And that is a much better long term diet solution.</p>

One of the more popular of all reduced carb plans was <a title="The Atkins Diet" href="http://www.ezweightlossdietplans.com/2009/09/atkins-diet-plan/">the Atkins Diet</a>. In fact, it was one of the most popular diets of all time. These diets touted that weight loss could be achieved by increasing protein and fat and reducing or cutting out carbohydrates all together.</p>
<p>Although some people have found success in losing weight by cutting carbs on a short-term basis, it is not a healthy long-term solution. Carbohydrates are one of the three main macro-nutrients essential for good health and efficient body functions. Keeping a low-carb diet, for even a short period of time can be difficult. There are a number of companies that have certified nutrition experts who have created meals designed to contain less than 17 carbs per serving.</p>
<p>While experts agree that low carb meals are not the same as no carb meals, there is no one single definition of what “low carb” actually is. There is no definitive number of carbohydrates that make a diet low-carb. Theoretically, the goal of this type of diet is to replace while flour, sugar, starches, fruits and vegetables. This significantly reduces the number of carbs in your diet. Proper portions of lean entrees replace these foods. When prepared correctly they are also low in fat. In many cases, the program provides participants with customized meals that are quite expensive by the way.</p>
<p>Carbohydrates naturally raise blood sugar levels. The insulin that is produced as a result prevents fat breakdown, which makes it difficult to lose weight. Come back tomorrow when we discuss more about low carb diets and losing weight.</p>

If you want to lose weight you may have to get a more specialized meal plan instead of just what&#8217;s readily available for those that are only looking for convenience. Of course, you also want to have a plan once you lose the weight you need to and decide to go off your pre-prepared diet meal plan. You may not be able to afford to have someone make all your meals for you over the long run, so make sure you have that thought out even before you get started.</p>

And in the end, you just have to ask youself how much you are willing to pay for that convenience.</p>
